No matter how much you push your body to train, you will still tire and reach your limit. Thanks to new technology, that doesn’t have to be where you stop. Imagine giving your muscles a helping hand, boosting your leg strength, reducing fatigue and exertion, and offsetting the weight you carry.
This isn’t science fiction. Hypershell X is the world’s first outdoor exoskeleton and uses state-of-the-art robotics to provide more power to your body when you need it most. Whether conquering climbs or performing daily chores, Hypershell boosts your performance to move faster for longer.
There are three versions of this system available:
- Hypershell Go X is designed to give you a gentle boost, making it ideal for daily tasks such as walking and climbing stairs.
- Hypershell Pro X offers professional-level assistance, giving you the power to run, cycle or even climb using less energy.
- Hypershell Carbon X is lighter, weighing just 1.8kg, and offers even more endurance for those more extreme uses.
How does it work?
The Hypershell X is designed to be worn over your clothes and attaches to your waist and thighs. It’s a subtle structure that is comfortable to wear, thanks to the Aeroflex softsuit design and easy to take on and off. The fit is adjustable, so it can fit any body size or shape.
Powered by a hot-swappable battery, the Hypershell X can deliver up to 17.5km of range (15km from the Go X). It delivers up to 800 Watts of power and 32 Nm of torque to your legs through the Electric Assist System, giving you up to 40% more leg power with 30% less physical exertion.
The MotionEngine algorithm uses high-precision sensors to monitor your movement and deliver the assistance exactly where it’s needed. There’s no need to adjust different modes, it optimises movement in real time to work just like your muscles.
An optional app allows you to see how the Hypershell has been performing, complete with data visualisation and real-time controls.
What are the advantages of an exoskeleton?
Providing extra power to your legs can help you achieve distances and tasks that would otherwise be beyond your reach, or with less exertion. This can be used for those looking to overcome great feats, such as mountain treks, extreme runs, or cycle rides. It can also have practical use for work or leisure activities.
A long morning commute – either walking or on a bike – can be made much easier, leaving you with more energy when you get to work and get home again. Plus, for those on their feet all day at work, it can take the strain off any activity you are doing, from climbing up and down stairs to crossing rough ground.
The Hypershell X also provides huge benefits for your free time. As it can offset up to 30 kg of weight, it can make carrying heavy bags or equipment much easier. So whether you’re a photographer, backpacker or just an over-packer, you can lighten the load.
Hypershell for athletes
Getting a boost in power or a reduction in exertion isn’t cheating. It’s a way to help improve your strength and can be used as a training tool for athletes or anyone looking to increase their fitness. Much like a resistance band (albeit a highly advanced robotic one), the Hypershell opens up opportunities for activities that you would have been otherwise unable to manage. It lets you train harder and for longer, letting you reach your goals faster.
Hypershell X starts from $799 (around £625) and is available direct from the Hypershell X website.
