10 amazing things you didn’t know the Huawei P40 Pro camera could do
Hardware and software combine to give the Huawei P40 Pro some serious camera smarts
There are cameras, and there are are the cameras in Huawei’s extraordinary P40 Pro. The Huawei flagship is easy to set up and it features brand new search tool: Petal Search – Find Apps. Petal is a smart way to find any app you’re looking for, not just from the Huawei AppGallery but from other trusted third party app stores and from app publishers’ websites, too.
When it comes to taking photos, the P40 Pro uses a combination of cutting-edge camera tech, artificial intelligence and serious processing power to do some really amazing things with photos. Amazing things like these...
1. It can remove reflections
If you’ve ever tried to take a photo from a plane or seen yourself reflected when you’re trying to photograph something through a window or glass case, you’ll know that reflections have spoilt many potentially stunning photos. Not any more. With Huawei’s Golden Snap technology, the P40 Pro can analyse the shot, identify the reflection and completely remove it.
2. It can make you the star of every shot
Is a stranger or a photo-bomber spoiling your snap? Simply activate Moving Picture mode when taking your snaps, and you’ll never need to worry about it again. The same Golden Snap technology that’s so good at removing reflections is also great at getting rid of unwanted guests. Just tap the “remove passers-by” option and it’s as if they were never there.
3. It can make you look better
Ready for some science? The P40 Pro has a Multi-Spectrum Colour Temperature Sensor with AI AWB Algorithm and 45% better colour precision and pixel-level colour enhancement. In plain English? It’s superb on skin tones, brilliant on backgrounds and delivers images so clear you can see every strand of hair in close-up shots.
4. It makes every day a good-photo day
Say goodbye to accidental silhouettes in sunlight: the same tech that delivers natural skin tones also intelligently analyses the scene to use just the right amount of light to illuminate you when the light is behind you. The P40 Pro also delivers the same creamy depth-of-field “bokeh” effects in portraits that you’d normally need an expensive digital SLR to create.
5. It doesn’t just zoom. It zoooooooooooooooooooms.
You don’t need to be up close to capture the tiniest details. The Huawei P40 Pro uses a combination of innovative SuperZoom periscope design (that brings an outstanding 5x optical zoom), artificial intelligence and optical image stabilisation to deliver a super-sharp 50x zoom, and its 50MP resolution means your images can be enlarged and zoomed again and again without losing clarity.
6. It can see in the dark
Thanks to the Huawei Ultra Vision sensor you’ll get great lighting, vivid colour and low noise long after the sun sets. That makes it the ideal camera to capture city skylines, great gigs and your fiercest night-time looks.
7. It takes great group photos
The Huawei P40 Pro has been designed to take great group photos too. Its multi-focus sensor makes sure everybody looks their best, and distortion correction gets rid of the weird effects that make other smartphones’ shots look strange.
8. It’s ready even when you aren’t
You’re looking great. The lighting’s brilliant. And you blinked just as the photo was taken. With the P40 Pro, that’s not a problem: it takes shots immediately before and after you pressing the capture button and it automatically selects the best one.
9. It shoots 4K movies
Fancy yourself as a film director? The Huawei P40 Pro enables you to unleash your creativity. Its 40MP ultra-wide cine camera, RYYB sensor and 16-in-1 fusion technology delivers truly cinematic video, and it shoots in pristine 60fps 4K with both front and rear cameras. But you don’t need to the the Spielberg of smartphones to benefit from its cinematic qualities: it’s ideal for capturing magical family moments and for making everyday adventures look epic.
10. It takes spectacular selfies
On many smartphones the selfie camera is an afterthought. Not on the Huawei P40 Pro. Its selfie camera has a 32MP resolution with auto-focus and an IR depth camera to bring the same extraordinary portrait effects to your selfies. With intelligent optimisation of lighting, skin tones and texture details it takes your selfie game to a whole new level.
The Huawei P40 Pro is £899 (RRP) and available in the colours Silver Frost, Blush Gold and Black. It also comes with 50GB free cloud storage (for one year) and 6 months free Huawei Music. Visit the Huawei Store to buy or find out more.
