Arlo Ultra 2 is a security camera with the detail you need to truly protect your home
Just 5% of burglaries result in a conviction, but with 4x the resolution, Arlo gives you the best possible evidence – and helps prevent break-ins in the first place
It’s a sad fact that most burglars currently get away with it. ONS and Home Office statistics say that only around 14 out of 100 burglaries result in an arrest, and gov.co.uk figures say that only 5% of burglaries get an actual conviction. This means two things: prevention of a burglary is your best outcome; but if the worst happens in your home, you need to make sure that you beat the odds, and the way to do that is to provide the best possible evidence.
The answer in both cases is the Arlo Ultra 2 Spotlight Security Camera. Not only is this a 4K security camera – offering unbeatable detail on the videos it takes – but it’s also a smart security system, featuring live detection and alarm capabilities. It does all this just from a few totally wireless camera units you fix to your wall – no elaborate installation needed, or awkward codes to remember.
The Arlo Ultra 2’s 4K resolution means that its videos capture four times as many pixels as a standard 1080p HD security camera, which enables you to zoom into images by up to 12x without distorting important features, meaning that you can pick up clear shots of people’s faces, or other identifying features. The sensor capturing the video is also HDR, which means that if you have areas of bright sunlight and dark shadows, it’s all still visible in the same frame.
The visibility and clarity is also there at night: the combination of a colour night mode and built-in spotlight mean that the Arlo Ultra 2 captures clear images whatever the conditions.
It also means that the camera can automatically zoom in and follow someone as they move across your property, and because the camera has a 180-degree field of view anyway, that means there’s no sneaking away from it.
Key to the Arlo Ultra 2’s smarts is its motion detection. When someone within its view starts moving, it’ll immediately alert you – meaning you can check in on a live stream right on your phone – and it can record what's happening, so nothing escapes its notice. Footage can be recorded to USB storage attached to the SmartHub base station, or to the could if you have an Arlo SMART plan – or to both simultaneously! Doubling up on the storage means you’ll never lose the video it's recorded, and you have access to it right away wherever you are.
But this is also where prevention comes in: when the Arlo Ultra 2 detects motion, it doesn’t just record – it also sends a notification to your phone, whether you’re at home or halfway around the world. This means you can immediately look at the live video feed to see what’s happening… and you can respond! Arlo Ultra 2 has two-way communication built-in, so you can talk into your phone, and any would-be invaders will hear it. And if you’d rather not issue a warning with your voice, an even easier option is the siren built-into every Arlo Ultra 2 camera – just push a button and you’ve very literally sounded the alarm.
Best of all, you can create all kinds of smart automations using the Arlo Ultra 2’s many tools within its app. If you’re on holiday, perhaps you’d rather just set it so that if your garden camera spots movement, the alarm immediately sounds and the spotlight comes on. And when you come home, your phone’s GPS tells the Arlo system that you’ve returned automatically, so it doesn’t sound the alarm when it sees you.
Adding the Arlo SMART plan doesn't just add cloud recording to your cameras, though – it also makes them even smarter than you'd imagined. The Arlo SMART plan adds the ability for the cameras to distinguish between people, animals, vehicles and packages – so if it’s just a local cat coming through your garden, you won’t get a worrying notification, but you will if it’s a person. Similarly, a camera facing your front garden won’t keep triggering when cars go past, but will for other kinds of movement.
Each Arlo Ultra 2 Spotlight Security Camera is totally wireless, and connects to the SmartHub directly, ensuring a consistent connection at all times. Their batteries last for around six months each, and you’ll get plenty of warning when they’re close to needing to be charged, so you can do it in a safe moment. And being totally wireless means installation is a fast, DIY job – just a few screws will do it, indoors or out. And they’re weatherproof, so you can choose any spot you want for them outdoors.
It’s this unique combination of features – the unbeaten detail in video, the powerful and smart security features, and the reliable and flexible connectivity – that makes Arlo Europe’s number one security camera company. You can’t control whether thieves target your home, but you can give yourself the best chance to stop them in their tracks or bring them to justice with the features that Arlo Ultra 2 gives you.
