Why you can trust T3
The best Fleshlights
The Fleshlight is a pretty basic concept. It's a squishy thing into which you put your penis, usually surrounded by a flashlight-like case (hence the name). This case provides a bunch of different benefits: it keeps its inner loose and flexible, holds in any lube to stop it escaping, includes an end cap which can be adjusted to change the amount of vacuum the case creates, and disguises the toy... or some do.
The inners of Fleshlights vary wildly from model to model, and our best Fleshlight guide includes a wide range of options. Some offer a pseudo-realistic representation of actual genitals, whereas some eschew realism for a hole that's more focused on pleasure.
Some, like the Blowmotion Real Feel Rechargeable, incorporate optional vibration, which can change things up significantly. Others, like Tenga's bonkers Geo range, go crazy with the textures, and incorporate a case which opens vertically along the length of the toy. There's a lot of variety. But whatever the features, and whatever the style, you'll need plenty of lube and (potentially) a pretty large place to store one.
Need more info? Here's how to use a Fleshlight, and – perhaps more importantly – how to clean a Fleshlight.

The Pilot has topped our big list of the best Fleshlights for a long time, and it's a best-seller for good reason. There's a non-anatomical entry point, an incredible texture inside, a non-gendered outer that keeps it subtle, and an inner which, being made of the slightly-stiffer transparent variety of Fleshlight's SuperSkin material, is perfectly welcoming and good for out-of-the-case use too.

The Fleshlight Ice Lady uses the same clear Superskin material as the Flight Pilot, but ups the ante by making the whole thing see-though. On the inside you'll find a whole bunch of different and exciting textures to explore; while some men might find it narrows at an unhelpful spot, plenty more are singing its praises in the Lovehoney reviews section. An anatomical entrance is made slightly less obvious by not being skin-coloured, but overall this isn't an especially subtle toy, so you'll need somewhere secure to stash it.

The best strokers
Where a Fleshlight is a self-contained device, strokers pare down the formula to make things a little more simple. They'll usually have an open end which removes the vacuum effect of closed-end toys. It doesn't stop you applying it yourself in most cases, however; strokers are often flexible and longer than they need to be, giving you the option to squeeze the top for a little suction, and typically won't come with a case, which allows you or your partner to squeeze as much as is required.
At least, that's generally the case. Some are shorter than standard toys, making them easy to stash away and perfect for partner play given that they don't envelop the whole penis. Some open-ended strokers have a surrounding case which helps protect their softer inner material. And some, like Tenga's ever-popular Eggs, go in the opposite direction, stretching over the head of the penis.
The easy argument for strokers is they're cheaper and more portable than Fleshlights; they're also a perfect choice if you're just starting out with penis-based toys and want to see what the fuss is all about.

Arcwave's Voy stroker is a serious-looking toy that packs a real punch. The USP here is that you can adjust the internal tightness by rotating a ring on the outside of the stroker. This pushes three distinct little 'nubbins' in the canal, which add interest and sensation to proceedings. There's no wacky texturing inside, with Arcwave opting for simple but effective ribs instead.
In our Arcwave Voy review, our tester found it more enjoyable than just about any alternative they'd tried, and crowned it one of the best sex toys for men around. Arcwave's CleanTech silicone isn't as appealing as the likes of Fleshlight's SuperSkin or Lovehoney's RealFeel, but with plenty of lube applied it still feels great, as well as being more robust and easy to clean than other rival materials. On the downside, it does make a rather noisy in use ("like you're trying to force a bucket of fish guts down a particularly pesky plughole", according to our reviewer). So that's something to prepare yourself for.

Fleshlight does the double here. The Vantage is a compact and perfectly portable stroker that doesn't skimp on the texture. It's short enough to work well with a partner, its outer case and compact size makes it suitable for tucking in a suitcase, and its clear material means nothing gets hidden away. The open-ended design means you've got two entry point options, although there's no option of suction as you'd get with a Fleshlight.

The best butt plugs
Whichever way your gender needle points, whatever your sexual orientation, there are thousands of nerve endings in and around your anus and sphincter – why let them go to waste? For that reason, next in our list of the best sex toys for men is the butt plug.
A butt plug is designed to go in and stay in until you're ready to remove it. It's not really an in-and-out kind of toy. It is, though, probably the best gateway toy if you're looking to explore butt stuff. That includes more direct penetration, as a butt plug can help prepare your rear for something larger as the evening goes on.
You can find interesting sensations with metal or glass plugs, which can be chilled before entry for a quite unique feeling, and an added vibrator can add plenty of fun to proceedings. But this is important: if you're new to anal penetration, you really do need to ease yourself into it. Go too big and you could do yourself some damage; so you'll need the lube whatever you choose, since your bum doesn't lube itself.
5. Lovehoney Butt Tingler

Reasons to avoid
It was important that we chose something versatile as our winner – a rigid metal plug or a massive stretcher won't be for everyone. Lovehoney's Butt Tingler, a T-bar butt plug that's available in everything from 3.5" to 4.5" diameters, seems to hit that mid point. We're focusing on the 3.5" one here, which has a gently tapering bulb that widens to a maximum 3.75" girth, it's small enough for beginners and large enough to satisfy veterans. Made from smooth and comfortable silicone, it's fully waterproof (which is good – use lube).
This butt plug also has a hidden feature: it vibrates. That's thanks to an integrated bullet vibrator, which offers 3 vibration speeds and 7 patterns, and can also be removed if you want to use it separately. One quibble that a few reviewers had was that it was fairly easy to accidentally hit the vibration setting button, especially if used during intercourse.
6. b-Vibe Snug Plug 2 Medium
Specifications

Reasons to avoid
A butt plug can offer many different sensations, and while a slimmer vibrating model might do funny things to one's prostate and be great for a little in-and-out play, sometimes it's more a question of feeling filled. The slightly gargantuan bulb of this particular toy means it really suits those who've had a little prior training – and, perhaps, those who've used another toy immediately beforehand to get warmed up – but if you're suitably ready the 114g weight and decent size of the b-Vibe Snug Plug 2 makes for some pretty intense sensations.
You can leave it in as long as you like, too, since its flared base conforms to the contours of your rear and its stalk is relatively thin. The best heavy butt plug? We'd say so – and you can go heavier, too.
The best prostate massagers
While butt plugs are for literally anyone, guys in particular get to enjoy the benefits of prostate massage – and if you're in the mood for a different (and potentially extremely strong) orgasm, it may well be something you'll want to explore. So we wouldn't have a guide to the best sex toys for men without including some prostate massagers.
As you might expect, there are plenty of toys out there designed to give stimulation specifically to the p-spot. They're usually curved in order to properly deliver vibrations, so you'll need to be sure to insert them the correct way. Many include a second section which makes contact with the perineum, to deliver vibrations in two ways; this may be a bit much for some, but if you're already going in deep we'd imagine you'll probably be ok with it.
We'd recommend spending a little extra to grab a p-spot massager that includes a remote control. It's not just a nice-to-have feature: changing speeds or vibration patterns with the toy fully inserted can be something of a herculean exercise unless you have someone to do it for you, and a remote opens up extra options for cheeky play.
7. LELO Hugo

Reasons to avoid
The Hugo might be expensive, but it's absolutely worth the money. It's the perfect shape, sitting neatly at the p-spot and giving plenty of love to the perineum. It's thick enough that you'll feel it but not so huge that you'll struggle to get it in. It also includes a very decent vibrator, and that bit's the real star: by tilting and tweaking the circular remote, you can move the vibrator's point of intensity, locking on to the point that gives you most pleasure. It comes very well reviewed, although a few found it noisy on higher settings, and some people had to hold it in place during use.
8. Lovense Edge 2
Specifications
Reasons to buy
Reasons to avoid
This is on the chunkier end of prostate massagers, meaning it's probably best suited to those with a little experience, but with enough lube we can't see anyone struggling to get it installed. It fully adjustable at its stalk in order to help get it situated both pointing at the p-spot and working on the perineum, and there are twin vibration motors to give each area the appropriate attention - but that's not the best bit. That would be the app control, which (unlike a traditional remote control) could give a distant partner the ability to send you a little thrill, or lets you create custom vibration patterns or even sync its internal buzzes to your favourite tunes.
The best cock rings
Want to look bigger? Want to keep going longer? That's the basic promise of a cock ring. Cock rings are bands which constrict a little blood flow to your junk, and you can wear them in a number of ways. For example, a cock ring around the base of the penis helps you get harder and stay that way, but you could also try one on your scrotum above your balls, or at the very base of the penis behind the balls. Or why not try all three – it's up to you.
They're definitely not for everyone, and there's obviously a slight risk if you're going to start restricting the blood supply to a vital bit of your anatomy, so make sure you buy a few different sizes (or an adjustable ring) if you're just getting started. That way, you can find the perfect fit. That's the basic cock ring, but it's not the only kind. A vibrating cock ring also adds vibration to the base of the penis, and it's ideal to use with a partner because you can position it in such a way that you can share those vibrations during penetration.
9. Lovehoney Bionic Bullet 5 Function Vibrating Cock Ring
Specifications

Reasons to avoid
Lovehoney Bionic Bullet is our best cock ring pick. The two super-stretchy rings fit over the shaft of your penis (the larger behind the balls, the smaller in front), positioning the top-mounted vibrator perfectly to stimulate a partner's clitoris during sex – as well as delivering tingling stimulation to your balls. The vibrator can be removed from its textured sleeve for extra versatility, and there are two vibration speeds and three patterns to explore. This sex toy has an average of 4.4 stars out of 5 over ~450 Lovehoney reviews at time of writing – which considering it's very difficult to make a sex toy that'll please everyone, is extremely impressive.
10. LELO Tor 2
Specifications
Reasons to buy
Reasons to avoid
The Tor 2 doesn't look like much, but it's a dark horse. The vibration motor is the key reason it's one of the best cock rings there is - you're very unlikely to find anything stronger on the market. It can be subtle, but dial it up and you'll definitely know what's going on, and your partner will too.
Cleverly coated in a satiny smooth silicone layer, easily rotated to suit all kinds of positions, the Tor 2 is one of the least fearsome cock rings out there, too. Our only gripe is the recessed controls, which can be a little tricky to tweak when you're in the heat of the action, and the fact that it's probably easiest to get on before you're too excited as it can tend towards the tight.
The best smart sex toys
As male toys grow in acceptance, they grow in smarts, and there are now plenty out there which do more than your average toy. Whether it's a more mechanical device like a blow job machine, a vibration-packing Fleshlight, or something altogether more smart, there's a long growing list to choose from.
But why choose a smart sex toy? Well, smart devices can be extra useful if you can't be with a partner. With a connected toy, you can send them a little stimulation over the internet, or have the same done to you. We-vibe's collection (and its online-joinable WeConnect app) is a great place to look if you want to try teledildonics.
A programmable sex toy can help you conjure up precisely the sensations you're looking for, and offers endless avenues for experimentation. App-controlled toys might even give you the opportunity for some local remote-controlled fun, be that in the bedroom or even in public.
11. LELO F1S V2
Specifications
Reasons to buy
Reasons to avoid
The evolution of the popular F1S Developer's Kit, Lelo's V2 is a sleeve-style toy with a double motor that delivers both vibration and sonic stimulation tech. The latter uses the same tech that powers Lelo's vibrators (some of the best vibrators around, by our reckoning). Lelo says describes it as "powerful sonic waves that permeate deep into your penis, making it feel as though it’s resonating pleasurably from all directions all at once, instead of simply tickling the nerve endings on the surface of your skin".
There are four customisable programmes to explore. There's also – of course – a companion app, which will deliver you 'performance feedback' for you to do with what you will. It's pricey, but it has picked up multiple awards and comes very well reviewed, too.
12. Arcwave Ion
Specifications
Reasons to buy
Reasons to avoid
Womanizer's touch-free vibrators have proven a massive for those who have a clitoris to use them on; the Ion sees Arcwave translating their Pleasure Air tech into a language the penis can understand. It's a clever thing: a closed-ended stroker using the same CleanTech silicone that makes the Voy so good, it stays completely silent until you get far enough in that the Pleasure Air part senses your presence.
At that point it'll automatically start stimulating the Pacinian receptors in your frenulum - if that sounds technical, Arcwave calls it 'the closest thing to a female orgasm for men' so you can absolutely expect a new sensation or three while you play. The tech doesn't stop with airy vibrations, either: the included storage/charging base angles the main unit in such a way that a DryTech stick can help remove all liquid, and the actual process of cleaning - given that this is totally waterproof and comes apart in two halves - is as easy as can be. See our Arcwave Ion review for a full breakdown of this smart sex toy.
How to choose the best sex toy for men
If you have a penis and all the requisite hardware that goes along with it, you have just as many zones of stimulation as those with a vagina do. Maybe even more! The penis alone has a bunch of individual areas you can go to town on: consider the difference in the way things feel on the tip of the glans compared to the rim, the top of the shaft compared to the base.
The best male sex toys also give you options for stimulating the balls. Some add extra pleasure to the oft-neglected perineum. Some work on the anus, or (deeper in) the prostate. Some sex toys for men just massage the ego: so much of pleasure comes from one's head that merely the act of using a toy can be enough to get you going.
Much focus is given to Fleshlights but the choice is much more varied than that. What's better than a toy you can share with someone else? Some of these men's sex toys are remote controlled, some provide stimulation to both parties during sex, and gives you something new to explore with the one you're with.
Essentially, it depends what you're into! You can't go too wrong if you take our advice for the best sex toys for men that we've shown you above.
