Today in the UK, more of us than ever buying vans, modding vans, holidaying in vans, living in vans and generally enjoying ‘Van Life’. That’s brought the previously obscure topic of mobile power solutions into the limelight, and EcoFlow is a market leader and innovator when it comes to powering up your van or off-grid home.
The brand’s latest Power Kits are a big leap forward, being powerful, cleverly designed, and easy to set-up. There’s also support for a wide range of recharging options, from mains to solar.
Here are 6 reasons why you should consider an EcoFlow Power Kit for your mobile home.
They’re easy and quick to install
One massive bugbear with most mobile power solutions is that they take literally days to install, even by qualified and experienced people. EcoFlow massively cuts the time and effort required by reducing the number of modules involved to just four, plus optional solar panels, from the dozens used by most comparable systems. The result is installation that’s three times faster than the industry average, and with greatly reduced risk of messing up the wiring.
Adaptable and expandable
As your needs grow and change, EcoFlow’s systems can be easily adapted to match. The heart of the system is the EcoFlow Power Hub, and this can connect to up to three LFP Batteries, giving you anything from 2KWh to a hefty 15KWh – that’s enough to fully power an average motorhome for 18 hours or a house for 14 hours. The batteries are stackable, to save space.
Fast and easy recharging
As well as the all-important solar panels, which give you complete independence, Power Kit can also be charged via EcoFlow’s Smart Generator, or any traditional generator, as well as plugging in to the grid. Other options listed are alternators and shore power, but whatever method you use, charging is rapid, freeing you from battery angst on long trips. For instance, a 15kWh system with a maximum 6000W input can be fully charged in just 2.5 hours.
Solar power made simple
EcoFlow Power Kits are compatible with multiple types of solar panels, with something to suit every need, including rigid and folding options. A maximum 4800W solar input is possible – enough to fully charge 15KWh LFP Batteries in about 3 hours.
Safe and efficient
EcoFlow’s 48V system gives a number of advantages over traditional 12V power systems. It requires only a quarter of the electric current that a 12V systems need to power the same applications. That means you get just one 16th of the power loss you’d expect from 12V.
Another big benefit is that cables can be thinner, which is considerably more convenient in a van. Despite that, with a maximum 3600W output that can surge to 6000W, EcoFlow’s 48V system is easily able to power more demanding appliances, from air conditioners to water heaters. The system is also compatible with existing motor home power systems, thanks to a DC step-down converter.
There’s an app!
Most power systems offer clumsy controls and minimal system information. Not so EcoFlow, which lets you monitor all manner of parameters at a glance, from your phone’s Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. It’s yet another way EcoFlow powers up your van or off-grid life.
