The new Huawei Watch GT4 is more than just a watch, it’s a time machine. This brand-new smartwatch is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in a timepiece, through design and functionality. With two distinct styles, the watch may be looking back to classic designs for inspiration but it’s truly moving forward in what it offers in terms of fashion, health and sports performance.

Both the smaller 41mm and the larger 46mm versions provide looks to rival the most premium timepieces on the market. At a glance the watches are indistinguishable from manual watches – it’s only when you enter the menus, or get a notification, that the full potential of these devices is revealed.

Despite these classic looks, the watches deliver unrivalled features to cater to all your health and sports needs. From stress management to route tracking, the Watch GT4 has you covered. And what’s more, it can do all this for up to 14 days without needing recharging.

Design Forward: Huawei's industry-leading wearable design philosophy

Design is a huge consideration for Huawei, which is why so much time was spent making sure that the Watch GT4 is such an iconic smartwatch. Huawei has been making smartwatches since 2014 with the original Talkband B1.

Today the GT4 benefits from 10 years of R&D, along with its aesthetic research centres in Paris, Milan and London that have ensured that the new model is able to blend its cutting-edge technology with a fashion-forward design.

The design language of the Huawei smartwatch has been an evolution that began with the introduction of its first circular watch in 2015. This design evolved through the introduction of the original Watch GT1 in 2018. The GT2 added a 3D curved glass screen, while the GT3 introduced a 3D rotating crown. Today, the GT4 pushes even further with its octagonal aesthetic.

It has been important for Huawei to use the very best materials to construct its smartwatches and it continues to innovate in this area. The first models used stainless steel and nanocrystalline ceramics to provide a strong and lightweight build. The Watch GT4 boasts a new amorphous zirconium alloy for its design and even an 18K gold case option.

The Watch GT4 offers a wide range of personalisation through a choice of eight strap designs and colours, two sizes (41mm and 46mm) and over 25,000 watch faces to choose from. Designs such as Star Voyage and Dynamic Weather allow you to prioritize the metrics you want to see, as well as reflect your personal style.

Of course, the most important part of design is that it is easy to use and functional, as well as being great to look at. Huawei has focused on this human-centric appeal and has been recognised not only through industry awards like EISA and the iF Design Award but also among the fashion centres of Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Warsaw and Dubai. Cementing Huawei as a premium watch brand in its own right.

Health Forward: Huawei gives you greater control over your health

The health benefits of a smartwatch can be indispensable to users and Huawei’s latest features on the Watch GT4 compound this. The technology can provide 24/7 monitoring to ensure you remain healthy, alerting you of any irregularities, such as atrial fibrillation.

Sleep monitoring can help you not only guage how much rest you are getting but also offer advice on how to improve your sleep pattern. Meanwhile, continuous blood oxygen monitoring provides quick and accurate results in case of sudden drops.

The ability to track your health accurately through your watch not only provides comfort for users but can be extremely helpful in their daily lives. From those susceptible to irregular heartbeats through to sleep apnea sufferers, the data can help identify problems quickly and easily. The Watch GT4 can even help with menstrual cycle tracking and help plan for optimum fertility days.

Huawei continues to push its sports and health features through partnerships with professional institutions across the world and currently has over 13 million users involved in studies. In 2021 it partnered with the University of Liverpool on a stroke study and is leading some of the largest global health studies in partnership with hospitals in China.

To help identify high blood sugar risks, Huawei is also looking to partner on the development of blood glucose monitoring in Europe. Non-invasive glucose monitoring would be a huge step forward if it could be brought to the smartwatch, and it’s something Huawei is keen to progress on.

Sports Forward: Huawei makes fitness more enjoyable

Staying active is important for our health, and smartwatches help to not only track our progress but also encourage us to do more. The Huawei Watch GT4 offers over 100 sports models, from running and cycling to outdoor exploration and esports, so that you can properly document your progress and also get real-time data while you work out.

Certain workout data can be enhanced by the Huawei Watch GT4’s technology too. The intelligent GNSS directional satellite tracking helps to improve positional accuracy by up to 30% in running mode, so you can review your route with confidence. In fact, it’s the presentation of the data from all the workouts that really help users and the visual reports on the Watch GT4 make this much more satisfying.

Huawei’s TruSport system goes beyond just monitoring your workouts. The science-based system can offer tailored training advice to help you improve. It can also provide real-time alerts during exercises, for issues such as high or low heart rates. With more than 13 R&D centres and health labs across the world, Huawei is continuing to expand these functions further.

It’s not just scientists providing the research either. Global leading fitness and lifestyle influencer Pamela Reif, running legend, and multiple gold medallist Sir Mo Farah made appearances at the launch event as Huawei's newly-appointed Wearable Product Ambassadors.

Having incorporated the latest wearables into their training routines, both icons were able to elevate their training efficiencies, and better understand their health status, while bringing style and fashion into their day.

Sir Mo Farah said, “The insights my coaching team and I were able to extract from the watches proved invaluable as I competed at the highest level. As I transition from professional running to a more leisurely lifestyle, I'm excited to explore what life has to offer beyond the track by wearing the watches for day-to-day activities and as a fashion piece. That’s where Huawei’s watches really shine. They look as good as they work.”

Whether you’re a regular in the gym or into your outdoor pursuits, Huawei’s activity rings provide a simple and motivational summary of your daily achievements. Closing those rings can be an inspirational goal for all users of the Huawei Watch GT4.
