Choose a job that you love, the old saying goes, and you will never have to work a day in your life. And so it goes with travel. If you love the way you get around – because you’re cycling a beautiful bike, for example – you’ll never feel like you’re commuting. It’s more like a pleasure ride at either end of the working day – something to look forward to and relish.
Whether you’re pedaling to and from work, or riding around town to meet friends, a really great bike – like one of the stunning steeds from BMC’s 257 range – is more than just a joy to ride. Essentially, it’s a time machine. A well-designed bike takes all those minutes and hours of frustration you experience while waiting for a late train or when stuck in traffic, and transforms them into moments of healthy enjoyment.
What makes the 257 such a stand-out? Click below
The 257 family of street-ready bikes from BMC incorporates both standard and electric bikes (257 AMP), all designed and built to the exceptionally high standards that you would expect from the Swiss Brand, internationally famous for their top-end road and mountain bikes, ridden by professionals and elite athletes the world over.
Sleek, clean lines feature prominently in the design of all the models in both the 257 and 257 AMP ranges, but the bikes remain accessible – both for people aiming to reclaim an important part of their day by swapping a car seat for a saddle, and serious cyclists seeking a second bike for everyday use, going to and from work and zipping around town.
Pedal power
The non-motorized 257 bicycles combine effortless style with modern technology, consistent reliability and straightforward functionality to facilitate an urban riding experience that’s fun, safe and completely hassle free.
There are several 257 models to choose from, each with different (but always good-quality) components. The premium offering is the stunning steel blue 257 AL One, which boasts an excellent Shimano Alfine 8 groupset, followed by the sand-coloured 257 AL Two (with a SRAM Apex 1 single chainring groupset), the anthracite 257 AL Three (Shimano Nexus 8 beltdrive groupset) and the metallic grey 257 AL Four (Shimano Deore 1x11 single chainring groupset).
Each model is available in two versions: one with a standard frame and the other with a step-over frame with a staggered top tube for strength combined with comfort and ease of use.
All the bikes in the range are based on robust but lightweight aluminium frames, powder coated for extra durability and handsome looks. Features include integrated StVZO-certified lights, disc brakes, charismatically colourful fenders to guard clothes against mud and spray, and a sturdy kickstand.

Meanwhile, people looking to save even more time should check out the 257 AMP range of e-bikes. If you need an extra little bit of oompf on some hills, and when you want reach your destination a bit quicker and arrive a whole lot less sweaty, the Bosch Performance Line CX Drive Unit on the 257 AMP bikes is ready to supply exactly the kind of helpful push you require.
Packing a punch that belies its sleek look, the 257 AMP bike is available in two different models, the steel blue 257 AMP AL One, armed with Shimano Alfine 8 components, and the sand-coloured 257 AMP AL Two with a Shimano Deore 12-speed groupset. Both are offered in standard and step-over frames with staggered top tubes.
Equipped with a 625 Wh Battery, the distance range of these bikes is generous, easily large enough to get you around town, and the top power-assisted speed is 25 km/h (15.5mph).
The 257 AMP bikes come equipped with Lezyne lights, plus an easy to read Bosch’s Kiox display screen, so riders can view data at a glance while they’re on the move. Via the Kiox set-up, you can also access Bosch eBike Connect and take advantage of mapping, route planning, navigational tools and much more.
