The Lustre ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear mask emits two types of LED therapy – blue and red light, and red and near-infrared light – so you can fight both acne and the signs of ageing with one device. Even better, you can split the two LED light choices across four different facial areas to fully customise your session and address several skincare concerns in one treatment.

Why you can trust T3
On a quest for clearer, firmer, younger-looking skin? Join the club! And if there’s one beauty tech device out there that will help you get it, it’s one of the best LED face masks.
Having tested various LED masks over the years, I can attest to the acne-fighting benefits of masks that emit blue and red light therapy, like the Omnilux Clear LED Face Mask, as well as the anti-ageing benefits of masks that use red and near-infrared wavelengths to boost collagen production, such as the HigherDOSE Red Light Face Mask.
However, as someone who has been battling several skincare concerns simultaneously – namely the signs of ageing around my eyes and forehead and hormonal acne on my chin, cheeks and jawline – I have long wished for an LED mask that does more than one thing at a time, so I tackle both issues in one session.
Now, thankfully, there is a solution, and it comes in the form of the Lustre ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear mask which syncs to a dedicated app so you can choose exactly where you want to use the blue, red and near-infrared LED lights across four different facial areas. Want to know more? Read on.
LUSTRE CLEARSKIN RENEW PRO FACEWEAR REVIEW: PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The LUSTRE ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear is available to buy for a recommended retail price of £450 from Lustre ClearSkin and selected third party retailers including Amazon UK.
LUSTRE CLEARSKIN RENEW PRO FACEWEAR REVIEW: UNBOXING AND DESIGN
The Lustre ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear mask arrives nicely boxed with a moulded plastic cover to keep everything in place, plus a head strap, carry bag, instruction manual, USB-C charging cable and removeable eye protection.
Made from super flexible medical grade silicon, this device is billed as the first-ever, semi-flexible, form-fitting LED mask on the market. As such, it combines the form-fitting shape of a solid LED mask, such as the Therabody TheraFace Mask or the new Shark CryoGlow, with the flexibility of flat LED masks, like the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask made famous on Netflix’s Emily in Paris.
In terms of looks and shape, the Lustre ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear mask reminded me of one of those porcelain doll masks. Some days, I felt a little creeped out when I caught sight of myself in the mirror, and on other days, I felt like Iron Man thanks to the shiny gold control panel on the forehead.
This built-in control panel allows the device to be completely wireless and hands-free so there’s no battery pack to carry around. To turn it on, simply press the round button on the control panel for a few seconds, then short press it once or twice to select your desired setting: Energize, which uses red and blue light, or Revitalise, which uses red and near-infrared light. This button also helps you sync to the dedicated app via Bluetooth for the customised treatments.
In terms of tech specs, the LUSTRE ClearSkin RENEW Pro Facewear mask features 160 LED (light-emitting diode) bulbs divided into 50 dual-core LEDs emitting red and near-infrared lights for a ‘revitalized and radiant complexion’, and 30 dual-core LEDs emitting red and blue lights for ‘energized and fresher looking skin’.
This ‘Tri Light’ system emits blue wavelengths at 440nm to target and kill the breakout-feeding ‘P. acnes’ bacteria; red wavelengths at 630nm to accelerate the production of new collagen; and near infrared wavelengths at 830nm to work more deeply in the skin’s hypodermis and boost blood circulation.
It’s worth noting that the number of bulbs on this device is higher than many of the masks I’ve tried before, and that they are positioned randomly to fit the contours of the face rather than following a uniform pattern where they are equally spaced.
To charge the mask, simply plug the USB-C cable into the control panel for two to three hours for a full charge. This provides enough juice for six or seven 10-minute treatments a week, which was pretty good in my experience.
LUSTRE CLEARSKIN RENEW PRO FACEWEAR REVIEW: FEATURES AND APP
Hailed as a first of its kind, the standout feature of this FDA-cleared LED mask is its revolutionary Tri Light system, which lets you enjoy personalised treatments depending on your skin’s needs.
Using the dedicated app, it takes just a few seconds to make your selection and split the two light choices across four different facial areas: the forehead, eyes, nose, and cheeks & chin before you press start and watch a clock silently count down your 10-minute treatment time.
Additionally, you can set up ‘challenges’ in the app to automatically plan your treatments, log completed sessions and send reminder notifications when a treatment is due to help you stick to the programme for maximum results.
If you don’t require a tailored approach, Lustre recommends you use the Energise setting every day for 30 days to clear skin blemish-prone skin or the Revitalise setting five times a week for six weeks to maintain a healthy radiance.
LUSTRE CLEARSKIN RENEW PRO FACEWEAR REVIEW: PERFORMANCE
Before discovering the Lustre ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear mask, I would select my LED mask based on which of my skincare needs was most urgent on the day.
Often, treating a new eruption on my chin would take precedence over rejuvenating my tired eye area or plumping the fine lines on my forehead, and because you can only use the power of LED for a maximum of once a day for a certain number of days a week (each mask is different), I regularly felt the rest of my face was missing out on the TLC it needed.
Thankfully, that’s not the case when I’m using this device. Having the ability to select red light and near-infrared for my forehead and eye area to fight the signs of ageing and then blue and red light to tackle blemishes on my nose, cheeks and chin area has been an absolute game changer for me, and I’m sure others with combination skin or several skincare concerns will appreciate the level of versatility and personalisation on offer here.
The results I enjoyed from both types of light were excellent and on a par to other masks I’ve tried that only offer one. But overall, I think having the ability to consistently treat two different skincare concerns in one ten-minute session (rather than choosing one over the other) meant my skin ultimately looked clearer, firmer, brighter, and more glowing by the end of my many weeks of testing.
In short, I don’t have to compromise on boosting my skin’s collagen levels around my eyes to treat my acne or vice versa, which is very welcome. So, in terms of results, I’d give this mask full marks. However, I did experience one or two niggles that prevented me from giving it the full five stars.
While the built-in control panel and battery pack makes the device wireless, I found it applied unwanted pressure to my forehead and nose, especially if the strap holding the device to my face was pulled tighter. To relive this pressure, I had to loosen the strap, but I then found the weight of the control panel made the mask droop downwards rather than fit my face properly. To get around this, I preferred to use this mask lying down, which made the wireless design a bit redundant.
I also felt the lower half of the mask was on the slim side and didn’t quite cover my chin, jawline and the sides of my face compared to other masks I’d tried. Maybe that’s just a personal thing, but it’s something to consider if you have a longer or wider face and these are your trouble zones.
Finally, a bit of advice: do not remove the serial number sticker placed on the inside of the mask which is required during set up to register and pair the device. I did, so when the app disconnected from my device about a month into use (maybe due to an update?), I didn’t have the serial number to reconnect them. That meant I could only use the mask via the button on the control panel, and while the app did magically reconnect to my device a few weeks later, I did miss access to the app for personalised treatments during that time.
LUSTRE CLEARSKIN RENEW PRO FACEWEAR REVIEW: VERDICT
The Lustre ClearSkin Renew Pro Facewear mask is perfect for people with several skincare concerns who require a targeted approach for tackling blemishes and the signs of ageing in one 10-minute treatment.
Thanks to the Tri Light system and dedicated app, you can split the two LED light choices provided - red and blue to eliminate acne causing bacteria, reduce the risk of scarring and reduce sebum production, or red and near-infrared to boost collagen and elastin production for firmer skin and less wrinkles – across four different facial areas including the forehead, eyes, nose, and cheeks & chin. This helps to target breakouts while simultaneously firming and brightening the rest of your complexion. Genius!
