US smart kitchen brand, Ome has launched the second generation of its Smart Stove Knob. Compatible with gas and electric stoves / ovens, the Ome Smart Knob 2.0 is the first retrofit device of its kind that can turn your appliance into a smart one, so you can turn off the burners remotely.
I don’t know about you, but I constantly worry that I’ve left my appliances on, specifically my induction hob. Aside from that, I’m also notoriously bad at putting a pot on to boil and then walking away from it, which is a big no-no when it comes to kitchen safety.
Let’s face it – we’ve all put something in the oven or on the stove and gone to sit down while we wait for things to cook. But after noticing a big gap in kitchen safety, Ome designed its first generation Smart Knob to address the most critical and unsolved safety concern in the kitchen and one that causes the most house fires – unattended cooking.
Following its initial success, Ome has launched the Ome Smart Knob 2.0, its second generation of its smart stove knob. By replacing your stove or oven’s existing knobs with the Ome Smart Knob 2.0, you can control and monitor the burners and your cooking progress remotely via your phone.
By using the Ome Smart Knob 2.0 with the app, you can get real-time alerts from your stove, set up timers, and remotely adjust the temperature on each burner. It also comes with an automatic shut-off function for unattended cooking, so you don’t have to worry about burning your food or causing a fire while you’re in another room.
If, like me, you worry that you’ve left your appliances on, the Ome Smart Knob 2.0 will notify you if you’ve left a burner on, and you can turn it off at the stove or on the app. The Ome Smart Knob 2.0 also has Alexa voice control for hands-free adjustments. With the rise in smart kitchen appliances, the Ome Smart Knob 2.0 is a convenient and more cost-effective way to turn your stove or oven into a smart device, without you having to replace the entire appliance.
